German Romantic Works

Illinois State University piano professor Geoffrey Duce will perform a recital of German Romantic works: The centerpiece of the program will be Schumann’s masterwork Davidsbündlertänze (Dances of the League of David), which captures the height of Schumann’s expressive intimacy and inner world. He will also perform Brahms’ sublime and dramatic Variations on an Original Theme, and a fascinating lesser-known work of Schubert, the “Grazer” Fantasie, which was not discovered until 1969.
